Workshop: X's and Oh's: The Criss Cross Book

Description

Continuing our series of bookbinding techniques, this month we’ll explore the Criss Cross book, part hardcover, part spine stitched book. In this class participants will learn how to construct a hardcover book using fabric and paper, how to make a punch guide, have a practice sewing session, and learn the intricate sewing pattern for the Criss Cross Book, a unique sewing pattern. 

No bookbinding experience required and all materials supplied. Participants should leave with a completed book. 

Please note: because this is a multi-step book production, this class will run long. Please feel free to bring a beverage and non-messy snack of choice. There will be a scheduled intermission.

Tickets must be purchased online at least 12 hours before the workshop. No walk-ins. Space is limited. Tickets are non refundable so please plan accordingly before purchasing. Please have email confirmation / ticket readily available upon arrival. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Attendees may bring non messy snacks and drinks in sealable containers. Please note that photographs will be taken throughout this workshop. These may be used by Spare Parts for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or in any third party publication. This workshop is eligible for NEISD Teacher's Choice continuing Education Hours. To obtain a certificate please ask a team member for one during the workshop.
