Film Screening: X Trillion
Co-hosted with Surfrider Foundation Vancouver
Join us at the Vancouver Maritime Museum for a powerful evening of film, ocean advocacy, and conversation as we present a screening of the documentary X Trillion.
X Trillion, directed by Eleanor Church, follows the extraordinary journey of the all-women eXXpedition North Pacific crew led by ocean advocate Emily Penn. Together, this 14-person international team of scientists, sailors, designers, engineers, and educators sails more than 3,000 miles across the North Pacific Ocean—directly through the densest accumulation of plastic pollution on Earth near the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Leaving land and loved ones behind, the crew embarks on a demanding month-long voyage across high seas, battling storms and seasickness while conducting cutting-edge microplastics research in one of the most remote environments on the planet. Along the way, the expedition reveals the hidden scale of ocean plastic pollution—and the urgent need for global solutions.
More than a story about environmental crisis, X Trillion is also a story of collaboration, resilience, and hope. Through science, exploration, and shared purpose, the crew works to make the unseen visible and inspire action for the future of our oceans.
This special community screening is presented in partnership with Surfrider Foundation Vancouver and invites audiences to reflect on the impact of plastic pollution while celebrating the power of collective action.
