Xylem Kayak Outing: Historic Mill Tour on the South Fork River

Description

Join your favorite water loving friends at Catawba Riverkeeper on June 16 for a paddle and a social with your fellow colleagues at Xylem. Riverkeeper staff will guide a 1.5-mile paddle from the McAdenville Greenway and Blueway Launch next to The River Room to Goat Island in Cramerton. We'll shuttle back to The River Room and enjoy some social time with drinks and a food truck! 

You may rent a single or tandem kayak and accompanying gear or bring your own all for free! There are only 14 kayak spots available, so register early! The deadline to register is Thursday, June 15 at 12noon. All registered participants will receive an outing details email one day before the event. 

 

Event Details

 

When: Friday, June 16 – 3pm - 6pm

 

Where: 

  • Meet at Catawba Riverkeeper HQ/The River Room – 102 Main Street, Suite 100, McAdenville, NC
  • Kayak trip launching from the adjacent McAdenville Greenway and Blueway Launch to the Town of Cramerton
  • Return to The River Room for drinks and food

 

What is Provided:

  • Tour of Riverkeeper’s new spaces – office, lab, classroom, and The River Room taproom
  • Kayak equipment and dry bags
  • Riverkeeper staff kayaking guidance and an update on our goals and activities
  • Shuttle back to The River Room and Riverkeeper HQ

 

What to Bring/Wear:

  • Appropriate clothing layers to be on the water. You may get wet.
  • Shoes with a heal strap
  • Water bottle
  • Sunglasses or hat
  • Change of clothes and towel (optional)
  • Kayak equipment and gear (optional)
  • Drinks and food are available for purchase
