π About βYaldaβ
Shab-e Yalda, or Yalda Night, is an ancient Persian celebration of the winter solstice β the longest night of the year. Families traditionally stay up past midnight to share stories, recite poetry by Hafez, and enjoy symbolic fruits such as pomegranates and watermelon, which represent health, love, and the triumph of light.
Beyond its ancient roots, Yalda is a celebration of family, friendship, and renewal. It reminds us that even in the darkest of nights, light, warmth, and hope always return. This beautiful tradition continues to unite Persian communities around the world, including right here in Nova Scotia..
