Description

Join us at Ushaw, as we launch our brand new Young Archaeologists sessions! After our successful taster sessions a few weeks ago, we are delighted to launch a regular programme of activity for budding archaeologists in fun, hands on and inspiring sessions.

Over the next few months young people will get to take part in a range of different activities including:

- Understanding church buildings - Looking at the ornate decoration outside and inside
- Practical Archaeological Skills - Tools and how to identify and use them safely
- Ancient Civilisations - life before and after the Romans
- Artefacts and Eco facts - Material and plant remains
- Excavation Techniques - Test pits to large-scale archaeological sites
- Ancient Writing - from cave painting to the printing press
- Preservation and Conservation - Designing our own museums

Sessions will run once a month on the dates, below and you'll need to sign up to the block of 4 sessions:
- Sunday 27 April
- Sunday 18 May
- Sunday 22 June
- Sunday 13 July

Later in the summer we hope that you will also be able to join archaeologists on our exciting summer dig and help uncover the remains of an ancient inn that existed long before the historic house! Dates to be announced soon.
