A 4-Week Art & Business Course for Kids (Ages 6–11)
Held In-Studio at The Downtown DIY
At Young Makers Academy, kids (ages 6–11) will learn how to create crafts, build beginner business skills, and sell their own products at a local market. Each week blends a fun hands-on art project with a kid-friendly lesson in entrepreneurship, from pricing and marketing to customer service.
This unique 4-week program gives kids the chance to explore their creativity while also learning real-world skills about what it means to be a maker, entrepreneur, and community participant. Students will get hands-on with a variety of art projects, learn the basics of running a small business, and practice everything from designing their own displays to engaging with customers.
Program Highlights
When: Tuesdays, October 7–28 | 10AM–12PM
Where: The Downtown DIY Studio
Who: Kids ages 6–11 | Limited to 10 students for a small-group, hands-on experience
Cost: $165 per student (includes all supplies, take-home crafts, and participation in the market booth)

Finale: A special Kid Makers Market Showcase where students will set up shop and sell their creations at a local market!
🎨 Weekly Projects & Lessons
Week 1: Beaded Bracelets & Keychains
Learn what it means to be a “maker,” explore the basics of running a mini business, and create colorful beaded accessories.
Week 2: Painted Flower Pots with Seeds
Dive into the basics of pricing. Discover how to cover costs, add value, and still make a profit while making something beautiful and functional.
Week 3: Handmade Cards & Bookmarks
Practice setting up your own mini shop! Students will design simple signage, arrange displays, and create paper goods that shine.
Week 4: Painted Rock Kits
From tic-tac-toe sets to whimsical animal rock friends, kids will package their products, role-play customer service, and run a “practice market” to get ready for their real selling day.
By the end of Young Makers Academy, students will not only have a collection of creative projects to show off but also the confidence and experience to think like young entrepreneurs.
