Description

Poetry is experiencing a resurgence among teens and adults, largely influenced by the hip hop and rap music trends over the last few decades. If you are a teen between 13 and 18, come participate in an intro to poetry class on Saturday, April 6, and continuation on April 13, 2-4 pm, at the Birdhouse. You will learn how language, imagery, rhythm, voice and meaning—the basic building blocks of poetry—combine to make a good poem. We will read poems, write poems, and discuss poems, including yours, over the 4 total hours we are together. The cost is $20 for the two sessions (or $12 for just one) and includes a course packet to take home. Scholarships are available: email birdhouse.knoxville@gmail.com to inquire. You can register online, or email us to reserve your spot and learn about other payment options.

A snack and drinks will be provided, plus paper and pens/pencils.
