SimpleTix vs RSVPify

RSVPify’s $0/month plan has a 20% rule.

RSVPify’s help centre: “If 20% or more of your expected registrants will pay offline (for example, by check, cash, or pledge) or receive complimentary tickets (via coupon or free ticket option), a paid subscription is required.” On SimpleTix, you never need a subscription.

No setup fees. No monthly fees. No contracts. Free to sign up.

Three situations, worked out.

Platform fee on a $20 ticket

SimpleTix: 79¢ + 2% = $1.19.
RSVPify: 1.95% + 90¢ = $1.29.

Ten cents less on the ticket.

A gate where 1 in 4 pays cash

SimpleTix: still $0/month. Cash, comps and offline payment never require a subscription; on-site tickets and reserved-seating comps are 25¢ each.
RSVPify: past 20% offline or comped, “a paid subscription is required” — paid plans start at $39/month billed monthly.

This is the whole page. A normal box office trips the rule.

Selling reserved seats

SimpleTix: buyers pick their own seat from an interactive map — tables, booths or rows.
RSVPify: their seating chart tool assigns guests to tables on the host side, then emails everyone their assignment.

On SimpleTix, buyers choose their own seats.

RSVPify rates as published November 4, 2026: “RSVPify charges 1.95% + $0.90 USD per ticket or registrant,” its help centre says card processing fees are charged by the payment processor, with its partner Stripe charging 2.9% + $0.30, and its Sell Tickets pricing page footnotes that “credit card processing fees are separate and assessed by your selected payment processor.” The Starter tier is listed at $39/month on the monthly toggle of its pricing page; a comparison table on the same page lists Starter at $24/month, which is the annual-equivalent figure. RSVPify also states that any event selling tickets “automatically receives a free upgrade to RSVPify Professional.” Both columns exclude card processing. Full methodology in the sources note below.

No monthly fee. Any mix of cash, card and comps.

Frequently asked questions

Q1How much does SimpleTix cost?
A 79¢ + 2% platform fee per paid ticket, capped at $9.99. Tickets $5 and under are a flat 25¢, and on-site tickets are 25¢ each. Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits pay 71¢ + 2%, also capped at $9.99, on request with proof of status. Payment processing is separate and billed by the processor you connect. No setup fees, no monthly fees, no contracts.
Q2What exactly is the 20% rule?
RSVPify’s help centre states: “If 20% or more of your expected registrants will pay offline (for example, by check, cash, or pledge) or receive complimentary tickets (via coupon or free ticket option), a paid subscription is required.” Comps count toward the threshold, not just cash. A community theatre comping press and board members, or a farm taking cash at the gate, can cross it without selling a single extra ticket.
Q3How do I switch?
Switching is self-serve: create a free account, build your next event, and point your website and social links at the new page.

Take cash at the gate.
Comp whoever you like.

No monthly fee at any payment mix, 25¢ per ticket in person, buyer-selected reserved seating, and your own Square, Stripe, PayPal or Authorize.net account.

No setup fees No monthly fees No contracts Free GA/Flex events are free*

*Reserved-seating free tickets and comps are 25¢ each.

Sources, methodology and substantiation

All RSVPify information here comes from official RSVPify pages accessed November 4, 2026. RSVPify publishes a per-ticket fee of “1.95% + $0.90 USD per ticket or registrant” and, on its Sell Tickets pricing page, that credit card processing is separate and assessed by the organizer’s selected payment processor. The offline-payment threshold is quoted verbatim from its help centre, and the pay-at-the-door setup, a ticket option with the payment requirement disabled, is described in its help article on letting guests pay at the door. Its Starter tier is listed at $39/month on the monthly toggle of its pricing page; a comparison table on the same page shows $24/month, which reflects annual billing, so the monthly figure is the one used here. RSVPify separately states that any event selling tickets receives an upgrade to its Professional tier, which it values at $409/month.

Worked examples compare platform fees only, because both platforms bill card processing separately — this is the like-for-like basis, and neither column includes processing. Your actual processing depends on the processor and rates you select. The description of RSVPify’s seating tool is taken from its own seating chart page, which describes assigning guests to tables and emailing seat assignments; RSVPify does offer seating functionality and we do not suggest otherwise. SimpleTix fees shown are platform fees; free GA and Flex Pass tickets are free, and reserved-seating free tickets and comps cost 25¢ each.
