SimpleTix vs TicketLeap

TicketLeap charges $1 a ticket at your door. SimpleTix charges 25¢.

Plus a 3% card fee you can’t pass on to buyers. On 100 card sales at the door, that’s $160 against about $92 on SimpleTix, Square processing included.

No setup fees. No monthly fees. No contracts. Free to sign up.

Two places you pay less.

100 tickets at your door, $20 each

SimpleTix: 25¢ × 100 = $25.00 in platform fees, plus $67.00 standard Square in-person processing. ≈ $92.00.
TicketLeap: $1 × 100 = $100.00, plus 3% on card sales — $60 on $2,000 — which TicketLeap states the organizer must absorb. $160.00. Cash and check are exempt.

This is the gap. It widens with every ticket you sell in person.

A $500 VIP ticket

SimpleTix: 79¢ + 2% would be $10.79, capped at $9.99. With standard Square processing, ≈ $25.08.
TicketLeap: $11.00 + $15.79 = $26.79. At $1,000 it returns $51.52 against ≈ $39.58.

The SimpleTix platform fee stops at $9.99 above about $460 a ticket.

TicketLeap fees as published November 4, 2026: online tickets over $5.00 carry $1 + 2% capped at $20, plus an uncapped transaction fee charged on the ticket price plus the ticketing fee; 49¢ flat at or below $5.00. At the door, TicketLeap publishes “a flat rate of $1 per ticket,” 49¢ at or below $5.00. Every online TicketLeap figure is the output of TicketLeap’s own fee calculator; the door figures use its published $1 per ticket and 3% transaction fee. SimpleTix figures use standard Square processing: online at 2.9% + 30¢ on the ticket price plus platform fee, the same base TicketLeap’s transaction fee uses, and in person at 2.6% + 15¢. Full methodology in the sources note below.

Frequently asked questions

Q1How much does SimpleTix cost?
A 79¢ + 2% platform fee per paid ticket, capped at $9.99. Tickets $5 and under are a flat 25¢, and on-site tickets are 25¢ each. Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits pay 71¢ + 2%, also capped at $9.99, on request with proof of status. Payment processing is separate and billed by the processor you connect. No setup fees, no monthly fees, no contracts.
Q2What does each platform charge at the door?
SimpleTix charges 25¢ per on-site ticket. TicketLeap’s pricing page states “a flat rate of $1 per ticket” at the door, 49¢ for tickets $5 and below, plus a 3% transaction fee on card sales that its support article says “must be paid by the event organizer and cannot be passed on to ticket buyers.” TicketLeap exempts cash and check from that 3%.
Q3Where does SimpleTix cost less than TicketLeap?
At the door: 25¢ a ticket, against TicketLeap’s $1 plus an organizer-paid 3% on card sales. For eligible nonprofits: we publish 71¢ + 2%; TicketLeap’s fee article says it does not discount for nonprofits. On premium tickets: our platform fee stops at $9.99 and TicketLeap’s ticketing fee at $20; TicketLeap’s 3% transaction fee, like card processing on SimpleTix, has no cap.
Q4How do I switch, and when do I get paid?
Switching is self-serve: create a free account, build your next event, and point your website and social links at the new page. On payouts, TicketLeap’s support article states 4–6 business days after the event ends (its pricing page says 4–7), 5–7 in Canada, direct deposit only. On SimpleTix, buyers pay into your own merchant account, so money arrives as sales come in.

Sources, methodology and substantiation

All TicketLeap information here comes from official TicketLeap pages accessed November 4, 2026, and every online TicketLeap dollar figure is the output of the fee calculator on TicketLeap’s own pricing page. The calculator covers online sales only, so the door figures use TicketLeap’s published door rate and 3% transaction fee. Their published fee is all-in: the ticketing fee caps at $20 per ticket, and the online transaction fee — stated as 3%, footnoted as possibly “$.01 or more higher due to rounding,” and applied at 3.09% by that page’s calculator — is charged on the ticket price plus the ticketing fee, so their totals already include processing. TicketLeap states there is no cap on it. U.S. pricing; TicketLeap states fees may vary in international currencies.

Worked examples are static illustrations in which the buyer pays the fees, matching TicketLeap’s calculator. Square’s standard online rate of 2.9% + 30¢ is calculated on the ticket price plus platform fee — the same base TicketLeap uses. Square publishes 2.9% + 30¢ as its “Online API” rate on all of its plans, which is the rate for online payments taken through an integrated ticketing platform. Your actual processing depends on the processor and rates you select. The door example includes card processing on both sides and assumes all 100 sales are by card: TicketLeap’s 3% transaction fee on the $2,000 of ticket sales, and Square’s standard in-person rate of 2.6% + 15¢ on the same $20 tickets for SimpleTix, which Square publishes for tap, dip or swipe payments on its Free plan. Cash and check sales carry no processing on either platform. SimpleTix fees shown are platform fees; free GA and Flex Pass tickets are free, and reserved-seating free tickets and comps cost 25¢ each.
